European Union Funds as a Factor Supporting the Sustainable Development of Rural Areas

The phenomena of sustainable development occurring in the Polish countryside in recent years can be analysed in the economic, social and environmental dimensions, which are the key elements of the concept of sustainable development. The implementation of this concept requires a systemic approach and the support of desired directions of activities. The aim of this study is to evaluate the potential use of European Union funds for supporting the sustainable development of rural areas. Two EU programmes are the object of analysis: the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 (RDP) and the Wielkopolska Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020 (WROP). RDP is contributing to the realization of the sustainable development concept of rural areas and agriculture mainly through projects carried out in agriculture, WROP - mainly through projects carried out around agriculture. The aim of all the priority axes, actions and adopted objectives of the programmes is to support the implementation of Strategies of the sustainable development of rural areas, agriculture and fishing 2012-2020.Downloads
